When Life Gives You Lemons..
We’ve all heard the saying, “When life gives you lemons make lemonade!” And surely we understand that whoever made that up wasn’t referring to the lemonade stand of a four year old girl.. Although that same four year old would probably have some of the best tasting lemonade on this side of Heaven, that is beside the point!
The point, and what I’m sure we all referenced the quote to meaning, is that you use what you have and make due! Whether it’s referring to our gifts, strengths, or even the things we lack, the quote is advising us to make the best out of our lemons and use them to make what we can. And I agree! BUT (And I don’t like saying but because it technically erases everything I said before it! – LOL) sooooo “however”, when referencing that quote we often don’t consider all of the ingredients needed to make good lemonade!
Good Lemonade Ingredients:
1. Lemons (Lemon Juice)
3. Sugar (Lots of sugar if you want it really good!)
Now before you go jumping to conclusions, I am not referring to the lemons we use to make our ghetto lemonade when we’re being cheap in a restaurant! I’m talking about THE GOOD STUFF! The stuff that sales from the shelf for $3.99 a bottle! The stuff your grandma probably can hook up like no other! The stuff that can’t be made with just a few little lemons alone!
I don’t want to lose y’all so I’ll keep this one short and sweet! In order to make good lemonade you can’t just have lemons and think you’ve got what it takes. Lemons are just the start! Similar to life, the gifts you’ve got and your natural abilities aren’t all you need to make it! You’ve got to add some things to those gifts in order to make them good!
You’ve got to add a cup of determination! A dab of confidence! A tablespoon of perseverance! An ounce of get up and go! And faith the size of a mustard seed! (Ingredients may very by recipe, but faith is always required!)
Maybe you don’t have any sugar? Seems like you need to go next door and borrow some! (JK)
But in all seriousness you’ve got to get up, get out, and get the ingredients you need to make your lemonade taste good! Whether you are lacking some sugar or some sense, you’ve got to go somewhere else to get what you need to make the lemons that you already have good! And that somewhere may be the grocery store or the church house, but no matter where it is GO GET YOUR INGREDIENTS!
You’ve got the lemons now work to make them good, in whatever recipe you choose make!
I don’t know about you, but I’m working to make some lemonade, lemon meringue pie, some lemon cream cake, and some lemon rice with my lemons! I’ve got a lot of shopping to do!
Are you making something good from the LEMONS LIFE GAVE YOU?
